"PrepSeeker.com" is the interactive on-line computer service operated by PrepSeeker, Inc., a California corporation ("PSI"), to provide prospective college students and their parents with access to relevant information and services.
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains our online information collection and use practices and the choices you can make about the way we use and share your personal information with colleges, universities and other business affiliates. Please take the time to read and understand this policy so that you can understand how we use your information.
The Information We Collect.
Our online registration form requires you to give us contact information. You may also be able to request information, order products, enter contests, participate in surveys, vote in polls, subscribe to a service or participate in a chat room. The types of personally identifiable information (i.e. information that can directly identify you or indicate where you might be contacted) that may be collected at these pages could include: name, address, age, date of birth, gender, grade level, e-mail address, telephone number, fax number, credit card information, and information about your interests in and use of various products, programs and services. You can view or change your information at any time.
We may also collect non-personally-identifiable information including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data, and browser type, from Members and Visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services.
How We Use Your Personal Information.
We will use the personal information you provide for purposes of facilitating or enhancing your use of PrepSeeker.com. For example, we may send you e-mails offering information regarding colleges and universities that meet your preferences and other products or services which we think you may be interested in, or inviting you to participate in a survey or contest, or to notify you when we make changes to our Terms of Use or this Policy. We may also contact you offline, by sending to you in the mail special announcements, offers and promotions, which we think may be of interest to you. If you want us to stop using your personal information in these ways, you can modify your preferences by logging in and editing your account, or by contacting us at preferences@prepseeker.com.
How We Share Your Personal Information
We do not release your personal information to any third parties except as stated in this Policy.
Our online registration form gives you the opportunity to “opt-in” to receive additional information from colleges, universities and our other business affiliates regarding admission, academics and other aspects of student life, financial aid, scholarship, and career information. If you elect to receive such information, we may share your personal information with third parties who want to market products or services to you or to ask you questions, both online and offline. If you want us to stop sharing your personal information with these companies, you can modify your preferences by logging in and editing your account, or by contacting us at preferences@prepseeker.com. If you consent to receiving communications from such companies, you may need to communicate with them directly if you later decide that you no longer wish to receive their communications or if you wish to change any data you provided online. In this instance, any changes or amendments to your personal information must be given directly to each company who communicates with you as these changes, amendments and/or deletions will not be exchanged between us and those companies.
In addition, PrepSeeker.com enables Members to apply to or request additional information from colleges, universities, and/or our partners. Upon receiving a request for further information, we will release your contact information to the school or partner so that they can contact you. For example, if you request information regarding financial aid, we may provide your information to a third party lender so that they can send the information you requested directly to you.
Other than as stated above, we will not share your personal information except (a) with your consent; (b) as may be required by law or as we think necessary to protect our company or others from injury (e.g. in response to a court order or subpoena, in response to a law enforcement agency request or when we believe that someone is causing (or about to cause) injury to or interference with the rights or property of another); or (c) with other persons or companies with whom we contract to carry out internal site operations or our business activities (for example, sending out a product or a promotional item that you have requested on the site).
PSI reserves the right to transfer your personal information to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information as a result of the sale of PSI or substantially all of its assets to that successor in interest.
When we share your personal information with third parties, to the extent practical we require that they protect such information in a manner that is consistent with this policy. However, we cannot guarantee how these third parties will use your personal information, and we expressly disclaim responsibility for the actions of partners or other third parties beyond our control.
How We Use Other Information
The non-personally-identifiable information we gather from you and other Members and Visitors to PrepSeeker.com may be used to analyze how our site is used, to improve the design and content of our site, and to enable us to personalize your Internet experience. We also may share aggregate information with third-parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to Members and Visitors.

PrepSeeker.com Member accounts are secured by Member-created passwords. PSI takes reasonable measures to keep the Member information that is stored within our database private, and we restrict access to Member information to those employees and contractors who need access to perform their job functions. Please note that we cannot guarantee the security of Member account information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of Member information at any time.
Update Information/Opt-Out
You modify or remove any of your personal information, or change your preferences with respect to receiving information from us or authorizing us to share your personal information with others, at any time by logging in and editing your account, or by contacting us at preferences@prepseeker.com.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Because our business needs may change over time, we reserve the right at our discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make changes, we will post them on PrepSeeker.com to make you aware of what the changes are so that you will always know what information we collect, how we use it, and when we share or disclose it. If you have registered with us and provided us with an email address, we may provide you with notice informing you that this Privacy Policy has changed, but such notice shall be for convenience only and shall not be required for the effectiveness of the changes. Parents
If you are a parent and you have concerns about PrepSeeker.com or its services, wish to find out if your child is a Member or has registered for our services, or wish to cancel your child's Membership, please contact us at privacy@prepseeker.com. We will not knowingly accept personal information from anyone under 13 years old or otherwise in violation of applicable laws. If you believe that your child under 13 has gained access to our site without your permission, you may contact us at privacy@prepseeker.com. We have taken commercially reasonable steps to restrict use of this site to those who are at least 13 years old. We do not sell products for purchase by children and all children's products we sell are for purchase by adults only, or with adult permission.
